On a dry but cool winter’s day, 58 of our Club members attended the Sydney City Slickers annual Branch Picnic day at the Auburn Botanical Gardens last weekend . Our Slickers members were joined by several couples from our recently formed branch, the Sydney Freedom Seekers.
This event was started several years ago and is now a featured event on the Slickers’ calendar. It provides an opportunity for branch members who are not travelling in June to enjoy the company of other members. Several branch members delayed their departure from Sydney so they could attend.
As has been the case in recent years, a covered venue was hired and this allowed the event to take place irrespective of weather conditions. Those attending paid a small donation to partially offset the cost of the venue hire.
Our Slickers’ muster coordinator, Gary, took the opportunity to present the 2019 Muster Calendar to those attending. It was generally agreed that 2019 looks like an exciting year with a variety of events being offered!
As is the normal case, the six hours allocated for the picnic proved to be well short of the time that is required for all members to engage in conversation and share what they have been doing since their last get together.
All in all, an enjoyable day was had by those attending and it looks like this midyear event will become a permanent feature of the Slickers’ branch calendar.
