The ACC Pulse

Welcome to The ACC Pulse, a new publication from the Board. The aim is to relay information in a timelier manner than via the Nomad, a brief report on each Board meeting, update on any changes in documents, the latest in Member Benefits, Industry News, Branch Activities.

Board Matters.

  • The Board is currently investigating various methods/options to attract new members to the Club.
  • The Branch Operation Procedures are currently under review.
  • The Board has subscribed to the ACCC Safety Recalls. Each recall is reviewed to see if it has any impact upon the Caravaning Lifestyle. Should a recall be viewed as being of interest/appropriate to our members it is them placed on the Clubs web site.
  • Thank you to all the members that completed the 2025 Member Survey. The lucky winner of the UHF radio is member Sue from the Southerly Busters.
  • The results of the survey will be published within the next month.
  • Nominations for the ACCL Service Awards close on the 1st of August 2025. The applications must be submitted on the Nomination Form which can be found on the Club’s website under “Members”, Club Documents, then ACC Service Award Guidelines and Nomination form.

Trip Planning

To improve trip planning for members, we have negotiated an arrangement with Wiki Camps and Camps Australia wide, to include the ACC Icon in their apps for Caravan and Camping sites that provide member benefits.  At present the logo is black and white in the Wiki Camps app but will be colour in future updates.  Camps Australia wide are also working on including the logo on their App.

Branch Activities.

  • The ACC Sugar City Pioneers celebrated 10 years since the formation of the branch. A lot has happened over those 10 years with 3 members receiving the Clubs Service Award.  A celebration was held at the Sarina Showgrounds where the branch was originally formed.
  • A combined NQ Muster was hosted by the Capricornia Tourers at Yungaburra in May.  36 Member units from Capricornia Tourers, Sugar City Pioneers, Tropical Tourers and Rainforest Ramblers attended and had a great time.

18th National Muster

  • Do not forget the 18th National Muster is just around the corner, with the town of Charleville excited to see us coming to town.
  • Just to clear up any confusion, the site fees for the National Muster are per RV not per person.

The Mackay branch of Australian Caravan Club, Sugar City Pioneers, will be holding a Muster on the 6 -9 June 2025 at the Sarina Showgrounds. The Muster will celebrate the ten (10) year anniversary of the formation of the Branch, which took place at the Showgrounds.

With many of the original members once again returning for the Muster, the branch has grown from eight caravans to become one of the largest branches within the Club with 41 caravans.

The branch members have worked hard promoting the Branch and the Australian Caravan Club, with members receiving the Club’s Service Award.

A birthday cake will be the centre of attention on Sunday 8 June, when the inaugural Committee will cut the cake. Many “tall tales” will be told over the weekend of the adventures the Branch has had, from travelling along the Birdsville Track to the Musters held up and down the coast.

Volunteer as a Campground Host in the Northern Territory

Details
22 April 2025

DO YOU  LOVE CAMPING AND MEETING NEW PEOPLE?

Volunteering as a Campground Host in the Northern Territory is a great way to enjoy some  of Australia’s best nature and wildlife experiences while providing important services to park visitors.

Enjoy spectacular waterfalls at Litchfield National Park, or discover the ancient landscapes of Finke Gorge National Park in the Red Centre.

Experience the rugged landscapes, wildlife, and Aboriginal and pastoral histories of the East MacDonnell Ranges at Trephina Gorge Nature Park, fish the mighty Victoria River or take a walk through the spectacular gorge country of Judbarra/Gregory National Park.

The Territory is waiting to be explored.

Our Campground Hosts are often the first point of contact for visitors. They support our Rangers by welcoming campers, providing general information about the area and assisting with the maintenance of visitor facilities.

A First Aid Certificate and a valid National Police Check is required. Campground Hosts are largely self-sufficient with their own tent or caravan, staying on site for at least three weeks.

When is hosting available?

Hosts are particularly needed between May and August — the dry season in the Top End, and the cooler months in Central Australia. Some host sites are also available in April and September depending on weather and access.

You can register your interest at https://nt.gov.au/parks/learn-and-be-involved/volunteers-in-parks
