The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission Product Safety Australia has issued a recall notice on Mazda BT-50s available for sale from 29 December 2016 to 4 April 2017 stating that the airbag initiators within the side airbag modules may contain an incorrect chemical mixture.

The notice states that this incorrect chemical mixture could cause the airbag inflator not to initiate, resulting in the side airbag not deploying in the event of a crash and increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
