Lost Contacts

Wednesday, 11 March 2009 02:42

We received this note from Sid & Marilyn, fellow travellers and members of the CMCA.

----------------------

We have only been members [of the CMCA] for the last 20 months and have travelled the east coast and central QLD and NSW and Tasmania but in that short time we have met and befriended many wonderful nomads of all persuasions, and like all travellers we kept a record and diary of our meetings, names addresses phone numbers etc..

This last xmas New year break saw us back in Kinglake West Victoria helping out at the Kids place house sitting and looking after horses and pets etc as you do while they had a well earned holiday.

All did not go well as I suffered a heart attack on Dec 28th.

The recovery time had delayed our departure which brought us up to Black Saturday Feb 7th, when as we all know now fate decided to deal everyone it's deadly blow including us, as we also lost all our possesions, all that is except our motorhome in which we escaped by the skin on our teeth to Yea for the weekend.  Fortunately we were invited to a dear friends house in Lalor near Melbourne where we are slowly replacing the contents of the motorhome which we were using inside the house.

Included in the list of items was all of our records, photo's names addresses etc maps 4 and recorde of some good sites that we have been to, so if any of our friends and readers recognize our name and logo we would be very happy to hear from you.

Before i sign off I must let you all know that never was the club motto more appropriate than during our ordeal as it was all we had left, "Laugh more Live longer".

Adelaide Caravan Show

Wednesday, 04 March 2009 18:41

After a particularly slow day on Thursday, slow due to the 46C heat,  the overall attendance was a near record. On the Saturday, attendance was well over 10000 people. Our stand was very well sited and gave those manning it maximum opportunity to "sell" the ACC, which the team did to best advantage. Many enquirers had already heard of the ACC,  a refreshing feeling in that knowledge was felt by all and provided more impetus to our efforts.

All of the people whom we were able to engage in conversation were very keen to get a full rundown on the ACC, and many expressed the opinion that they would give positive thought to joining.  So far it seems to have some success with new members already coming in, although it will be some months before we can truly gauge the extent of new membership.

All in all, the show was quite successful, particularly as it was the first effort in Adelaide. The team of volunteers are to be congratulated for the effort they put in, and their enthusiasm for the future of the ACC. It was a pleasure to work with them.
